Swa. Sawarkar Mahavidyalya, Beed was founded by the Bharatiy Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha (BSPS) in 1995. The city Beed has glorious history. It was called as Champavati Nagari. The city has old monuments in the form of many city entry doors called as Ves in Marathi, The city was surrounded by the protection wall which shows today it’s past glory. The Beed district provides many farm labours to the State. The BSPS which was established in 1959, decided to establish the college to educate the wards of these labours.
The Sanstha has obtained its own distinct identity in the field of education in Marathwada, has expanded in all directions today. The motto of the Sanstha is केल्याने होत आहे, आधी केलेची पाहिजे, that means, It is done by doing, it should be done first.
The mission of the Sanstha is to create patriotic citizens with insistence on Indian education. The student is the focal point in the education process and the Professors in the Sanstha are constantly trying to integrate by accepting the educational framework of the government for student’s holistic development in both academic and non-academic spheres.
The college is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Cha. Sambhajinagar. It is an aided college of Arts, Science and Commerce. Majority of student belongs to the lower to middle socio-economic and rural background. So, the college is dedicated to empowerment of these youth through value based and quality education. Through various academic and extensive activities, students are encouraged to be innovative and creative.
The college believes in imparting value-based quality education and its assurance. Access to quality education is considered a basic right of the students. Students are inculcated humane, ethical, and Constitutional values. Along with the hard skills, soft or life skills such as communication, cooperation, teamwork, and resilience are promoted.
It is accessible and friendly to the Divyang students. Community participation is facilitated through various skill-based courses, gym as well as cultural activities. The college is the first in Maharashtra that runs plumbing course for girl students. The college is a vibrant education system.
