Guidelines for Nominations and Election of Students Council
01) The Principal shall nominate one student from each class who has secured the highest number of marks in the H.S.C. Board / University examination or any other equivalent examination held in the immediately preceding year.
02) The Principal shall nominate four other student members under section 40 (2) (b) (vii) one from each of the following activities viz.
- Sports
- National Service Scheme and Adult Education Programme
- National Cadet Corps (NCC)
- Cultural Activities
03) The Principal shall nominate two lady students on the Students Council under section 40 (2) (b) (vii) on the basis of their overall performance in various following areas of excellence.
(a) Academic merit at the preceding examination.
(b) Participation in National Service Scheme and Adult Education Programme.
(c) Participation in National Cadet Corps.
(d) Sport and
(e) Cultural Activities.
04) (a) A student in order to become eligible for nomination on the Students Council under the provision of Section 40 (2) (a) and (vi) and
section 40 (2) (b) and (vii) and (viii) must fulfill the following.
(i) He/She should not be a repeater student.
(ii) He/She should not be a ATKT student.
(iii) He/She should not have joined a class of the same level in the same faculty or even a lower class in the same or other faculty.
(b) A student in order to become eligible for nomination on the Student's Council under all categories shall be below the age of 25 years at the time of nomination and shall not be in full time employment.
05) The Principal shall finalise the nomination of the student members and other namely, one lecturer on the basis of his experience in the Student Welfare activities, one Senior Division Officer, one NSS Programme Officer, and Director of Sports and Physical Education, if any, on the Students Council as per the provision under section 40 (2) (b) and declare the Student's Council as duly formed on a date fixed by the University.
06) If a student nominated by the Principal on the Student's Council of the Collage under the provisions of Section 40 (2) (b) (v) or (vii) or (viii) submits his application to the principal informing him about his inability to be a member of the Student's Council under his signature, duly attested by a teacher of the college within 24 hours of the declaration of nomination shall, cases to be a member of the Students Council from that date, however, in such a case the post shall remain vacant for the year and shall not be filled in any case.
07) The election of Secretary of each of the Student's Council;of the Collage shall be held from amongst its Student members as per the provision of Section 40 (3) by ballot, according to the system of proportional Representation by means of single transferable vote, at a meeting to be convened by the Principal or his nominee on a date fixed by the University after the declaration of the formation of the Student's Council as per the following election procedure :-
- a) The nomination papers of the student members contesting the election to the post of Secretary of the Student's Council shall be submitted to the Principal of the College or his/her nominee in the prescribed from as per the election time-schedule / election programme notified by the University along with the publication of the Electoral Roll.
- b) The Principal or his nominee shall scrutinize the nomination papers and ascertain their validity immediately after the time-limit of submitting nomination papers is over.
- c) It shall be open to a candidate to withdraw his candidature from the election provided that the candidate concerned submits his withdrawal application to the Principal or his nominee as per the election Programme / election time-schedule declared by the University.
- d) If the number of valid nominated candidate does not exceed one, the
candidate thus nominated shall be declared duly elected to the post of
Secretary of the Student's Council of the college.
- e) If the number of valid nominations exceeds one, the election shall be held as per the Programme of election.
- f) The name of the Student duly elected as the Secretary of the Student's Council shall be communicated by the Principal to the Director of Student's Welfare after the election.
Guideline Representative/for Nomination of Department Ladies Representative (DR/LR)
(The Maharashtra Universities Act 1994 )
- One student from each University Department should be nominated as Departmental Representative who has shown academic merit at the preceding degree examination and engaged in full-time studies in a University Department / Institutation or Conducted Colleges.
- Two lady students as ladies representative on the basis of their overall performance in various areas of excellence as listed below.
- a) Academic Merit at the Preceding University Examination.
- b) Participation in NSS and Adult Education.
- c) National Service Scheme.
- d) Sports and
- e) Cultural activities.
- A student in order to become eligible for nomination on the Students Council under the provision of Section 40 (2) (a) (vi) and Section 40 (2) (b) (v) (vii) and (viii) must fulfill the followings.
- i) He/she should not be repeater student. ii) He/she should not be ATKT student.
iii) He/she should not have joined a class of the same level in the same faculty or even a lower class in the same or other faculty.
- A student in order to become eligible for nomination on the Students Council under all categories shall be below the age of 25 years at the time of the nomination and shall not be a employee.
