Environmental Science Committee

Introduction

Environmental science is a scientific study of the natural world and how it is influenced by people. The Environmental Science Formation of committee aims to spread the awareness of Environmental science among the degree students. From the March/April-2010 examinations Dr. B. A. M. University, Aurangabad, decided that Compulsory Six Month Course in Environmental Studies which runs for all Second Year (Semester Fourth) degree students of all streams. This committee work together with university on issues pertaining to the environment. It is "an interdisciplinary body which involved arts, science and commerce faculty expertise focused on global environmental issues. Major topics included are food, energy, human population, biodiversity and global change, Ecosystem, ecology, biosphere, urban waste management , agriculture, conservation , interaction with human activities, changes in Earth's climate and the impact, health and the environment, various activities to humans, plants, animals, and habitats, aquatic environments, radioactivity at nuclear sites, etc.

Objectives

  1. To percolate knowledge of environmental science is essential for existence of life.
  2. To determine how human activities impact the environment.
  3. To create awareness of ecosystem.
  4. To introduce an environmental changes impact people's health and welfare.
  5. To introduce concept of sustainable development.
  6. To seek to improve the environmental responsibility of the society's processes.
  7. To promote to students for plantation.
  8. To enhance students knowledge of renewable energy resources.
  9. To increase the awareness of recycling of waste materials.
  10. To create research attitude in degree students.

Standard Operating Procedure

The committee organizes different environmental events to spread its awareness among students and society as per direction of the Honorable Principal of the college. Dr. B. A. M. University Aurangabad has introduced compulsory Six Month Course in Environmental Studies to the Fourth Semester degree students from academic year 2009-10. The course structure comprises theory classes and Project work & Field visits. The evaluation of students is done at the end of this course as per the guidelines of the university.
