Electoral Literacy Club

Introduction

Electoral Literacy Clubs are being set up in the country to promote electoral literacy in all age groups of the Indian citizens through engaging and interesting activities and hands-on experience but in an apolitical, neutral and non-partisan manner. Electoral Literacy Clubs are especially being set up in colleges all across India targeting the new voters, (in the age group of 18-21 years old) pursuing their graduation. The club will have all the students from all semesters as its members. The following sections will talk in detail on how the EL C will be set up, who will be its participants, convener, where and how it will be conducted and what activities it will include. I. Objectives

  • To educate the targeted populations about voter registration, electoral process and related matters through hands on experience.
  • To facilitate EVM and VVPAT familiarization and education about the robustness of EVM as well as the integrity of the electoral process using EVMs.
  • To help the target audience understand the value of their vote and exercise their right to franchise in a confident, comfortable and ethical manner.
  • To harness the potential of ELC members for carrying the electoral literacy in communities.
  • To facilitate voter registration for its eligible members who are not yet registered.
  • To develop a culture of electoral participation and maximize the informed and ethical voting and follow the principle 'Every vote counts' and 'No Voter to be Left Behind'.

Standard Operating Procedure

  • The ELC members of the College shall meet once a month to engage in a closed or open group session of thematic discussions on relevant topics.
  • They will organize activities like outreach programs and in campus programs with targeted groups to create voting awareness.
  • They shall function towards the goal to create and preserve the literature for the club

Voters Awareness Campaign -2020-2021

Voter Awareness Campaign On February 10, 2021, Democracy fortnight and National Voter Awareness Campaign were conducted on behalf of National Service Scheme. The program was presided over by Dr. Sanjay Shirodkar, Principal of the College and Journalist Sandeep Bedre was present as Chief Guest. College Vice Principal Dr. Laxmikant Bahegavankar , Dr. Rajesh Dhere and District Coordinator of National Service Scheme, Dr. Sopan Survase were present. In the Introduction, Dr. Laxmikant Bahegavankar said that voters are The most important factor in democracy is the power to shape the future of the country. Voters have the power to shape the future of the country. Students who have completed the age of eighteen years should register their voting names and vote. Chief guest Shri Sandeep Bedre said that the power of the country is in the hands of the voters. They are the pillars of democracy. In the conclusion of the President, Principal Dr. Sanjay Shirodkar said that voting and voting are of special importance in a democratic country like India. Voting is our national duty. Voting will help strengthen democracy. Dr OmPrakash Zanwar proposed vote of thanks and program officer Dr. Sangeeta Sasane proposed after which voter awareness leaflets were distributed to all the volunteers.

Essay Competition Under National Voting Awareness Campaign On January 26, 2022

Essay Competition under National Voting Awareness Campaign was organized in Swa Sawarkar College, Beed, , while felicitating the first, second and third placed students in the Essay Competition, Shri Nitin Shete ,Secretary B.s.p.s Ambajogai ,and deputy Secretary Prof . Chandrakant Mule, Swa .Sawarkar Educational Sankul Hon President Mr. Gajananrao Jagtap and Secretary Dr. Palvankar, Principal Dr. Chhatrapati Pangarkar Vice Principal Dr. L.G. Bahegavankar Program Officer Dr Omprakash Zanwar ,Dr Sangita Sasane and Prof. Anant Deshpande were present.
